The past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind for our wrestling team. Our athletes participated in the B.C. Northern Zones tournament on February 8th in Prince George. They competed against teams from all over the North. ALL of our competitors qualified for Provincials! Here are the results:
- 48 kg – Lucas Beam – 2nd Place
- 57 kg – Nero Weder – 2nd Place
- 84 kg – Xavier Beam – 2nd Place
- 90 kg – Pasco Weder – 1st Place
- 57 kg – Freyja Jarnagin – 1st Place
- 69 kg – Bella Lucas Jarnagin – 1st Place
Also, Freyja Jarnagin won the Most Outstanding Female Wrestler for the entire Northern Zone Region! The Hudson’s Hope School Girls’ Team won the team tournament! Pretty exciting results for a school that has only been wrestling for three years. Great work Coaches Coleman Mercereau and Peter Douglas!
Five of our competitors travelled to the B.C. Provincial Wrestling Championships in Langley last weekend. All of our wrestlers earned points in their matches, or won at least one match (which is fantastic at the Provincial level). Pasco Weder earned the highest place for our school, making it to the final four, and finishing 4th in the province! Congratulations to Lucas Beam, Xavier Beam, Pasco Weder, Freyja Jarnagin, and Bella Lucas Jarnagin for giving it your all in this high-level competition. Again, a big thank you to Coleman Mercereau for travelling to Langley to coach our students. Way to go HAWKS!
