Memorial Garden – Summer Watering

Hello Community Members!  Just a quick follow up message pertaining to the Memorial Garden watering….Thank you to the many folks who have volunteered to keep our garden watered over the Summer.  We are hoping there’s someone willing to look after the week of July 24-30, as Lannie and I are both away during that time.
If you’re able/willing, please let me or Lannie know.  Thanks!

Hi Everyone.  I sent this out via HHPSA, but thought I’d post on facebook as well (please share out):

Greetings Community Members;

I’m sending out this email in hopes that some community volunteer spirit can help ensure our little “Dale Stark Memorial Garden” can be tended over the hot summer months. As you may know, our primary students tend the garden throughout the school year.  However, during the summer months, we don’t have staff/students on hand to ensure it gets watered. If you’re willing to “sponsor a week”, please email me dbeam@prn.bc.ca

I’m putting together a calendar with volunteers, and will fill in any blank times by hiring a student (not sure where I’m getting funding for that yet…). What’s the job?  Water the potato bags, and the two large pots on the outside of the garden (this takes about 5ish minutes).  Then, using the sprinkler, water the “beds”…this requires more time as you do need to rotate the sprinkler…probably 1-1.5 hours.

The hose/sprinkler are already there to use.

How Often?  3x/week unless there’s a heat wave.

The following weeks are “covered” so far: July 16-22 and July 20-August 6
